Once Upon a Time Season 2 debuted on September 30, 2012 : What Powers Does Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin Have in Storybrooke?

ONCE Upon a Time Season 2 will show more action from the first season's supporting cast, particularly Red Riding Hood and Belle. It has earlier been reported that Meghan Ory (Red/Ruby) and Emilie de Ravin (Belle) have been promoted to series regulars by the ABC show runners.

TVLine was first to show the Season 2 poster featuring next season's "Magic 7." Autographed copies of this poster await those who could make it to the San Diego Comic-Con next week, reports Matt Webb Mittovich
From left to right: Ruby (Ory), Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla), Mary Margaret Blanchard (Ginnifer Goodwin), Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), David Nolan (Josh Dallas), Belle (de Ravin) and Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle).

Once Upon a Time Season 2, and Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) remains one of the most enigmatic characters on the show.

One question that's weighing on our minds is: What powers does Mr. Gold have now that the curse is broken and magic is back in Storybrooke? Regina (Lana Parrilla) is struggling to regain her powers — she required her mother's spell book to perform magic in Season 2, Episode 2: “We Are Both” — but what about the Dark One himself?

We've gathered all of the clues about his current power status from the first two episodes right here.

He can do magic: In Season 2, Episode 1: “Broken” he summoned the wraith. In Episode 2, he summoned Cora's (Barbara Hershey) spell book for Regina. He might not have the same powers he did in Fairytale Land, but he also seems more in control than Regina.

He didn't know about the memory loss. In Episode 2 we learn that if the fairy tale characters try to leave town, they lose all memories of their Fairytale Land lives, permanently. Mr. Gold didn't know this, and he freaked out when he found out (presumably because he wants to leave Storybrooke to find his son, Baelfire — that's our theory, anyway). It's rare for him not to be two steps ahead — so why didn't he know about this?

The "please" has lost its punch. Now that the curse is broken, Regina no longer has to follow Gold's orders when he says "please."

And True Love's kiss? Gold and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) shared a passionate kiss in Episode 1, but it didn't seem to have any effect on the Dark One curse — even though Gold used the Dark One powers to summon the wraith. What happened to True Love's kiss breaking any curse?
What do you think: How much power does Gold have in this world?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO HENRY NOW?

It would have been more interesting if Henry Mills (Jared Gilmore) was in the poster, too. After all, he was the one who brought Emma Swan to Storybrooke. He manned up at ten years old and left for Boston to get his mother. Pinocchio, who was "assigned" to the task, failed. Speaking of --

WILL PINOCCHIO COME BACK?

Set in the mystical woodlands, the foggy image in the poster suggests that magic is back. Seeing the main players in their costumes is exciting enough, but the fans are left to wonder why Pinocchio (Eion Bailey) and Henry are left behind.

One of the most anticipated scene in the first season finale is the reunion between Pinocchio and his father, now that everything will be remembered. Fans would like to see how Pinocchio would explain himself. This links to what happened to Emma Swan after she was left behind by Pinocchio as a baby.

NOW NEW CHARACTER SPOILERS IN POSTER

In an earlier interview for spoilers, show runners Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz said they are going to introduce more fairy tale characters into the mix. Why are they not in the poster, too?

The only possible explanations are: (1) casting has not been completed for next season, and (2) the new fairy tale characters may only be recurring characters like Cinderella and the Blue Fairy.
